LYDIA MIK
It is with much sadness that we advise members of the recent passing of Lydia Mik … wife of Hills Bowling Association President, Tony.
Lydia was well known, both in Gumeracha, and the community generally, through her and Tony having been the proprietors of the Gumeracha Hotel, and later the Gumeracha Take Away shop. The family are well known for their involvement with and support of the Gumeracha Bowling Club. Tony and son Butch are long standing players, daughters Tarsh and Marijka have been involved as social players and assisting with the bar, while daughter in law Serena capably assisted Lydia with catering.
Lydia’s sudden passing on 2nd February was met with shock and disbelief by all who knew her, and her family and the community shared much grief over the week that followed. However following a private service on 11th February, a less sombre farewell was held at the Gumeracha Hotel. The community showed their support by donning bright colours, in a joyous celebration of Lydia’s life. Former publican and friend Brenton James led a short but high spirited commemoration ceremony, with thoughts and fond memories shared by Kerry Hutt, son Butch, and grandson Milan.
The Hills Bowling Association pass on our warmest regards to Tony, Butch & Serena, Tarsh, and Marijka while they deal with the loss.
