PRESIDENT’S CUP 2024

After the huge success last season of the President’s Cup, the event is set to return in November and December 2024.

The structure of the event will remain essentially the same – with selected captains leading six sides over four nights in a multi format competition.  Last year’s sides consisted of five players, comprising teams of triples and pairs.  If the number of entries is sufficient, more sides can be accommodated, or the existing formats extended.

Entry is open to all HBA members – and it is hoped that each club will nominate at least four players to be considered for selection – at least two of whom should be senior/experienced players, and at least two new or up and coming players.

At this stage it is anticipated that rounds will occur as follows:

  • Round 1 on Friday 15th November 2024 at Oakbank.
  • Round 2 on Friday 22nd November 2024 at Uraidla.
  • Round 3 on Friday 29th November 2024 at Woodside, and
  • Round 4 Finals on Friday 6th December 2024 at Gumeracha.

All entries are to be submitted via the online link – no fees are payable in the first instance – and entries will close at midnight on Thursday 7th November 2024.

Once entries have closed, the HBA President will select the six side captains, who will then take part in a draft to select their players/sides – with some conditions imposed to ensure that newer bowlers are given an equitable chance of playing.  The entry fee of $40 per player will then be payable prior to the first match.

Please note some many players have raised complaint about the Saturday pennant season being slightly shorter this season – for those this is the ideal opportunity to get in some extra bowls, and play alongside some of the Associations’ most accomplished bowlers.
