PRESIDENT’S CUP – NIGHT TWO
Players and spectators alike were treated to balmy conditions as Woodside Bowling Club hosted night two of the President’s Cup.
Mike Baronaitis filled in for a depleted Green side, as he and Ted Robinson took on the Blue’s Brian Scown and Janet Jaensch in the pairs. Scores were level at 11 all with just two ends remaining – but shots on each of the final two ends saw the Blue team prevail 14-11. The triples were nowhere near as close, with Matt Browning, Cindy Falco, and Craig Higginson taking an early lead and winning comfortably 28-6 – for an overall 42-17 win to the Blue side.
Jay Maslen’s Yellow side were victorious on both matches over Alan Dunn’s Red side. Jay Maslen and Scott Pittaway picked up two shots on the final end of the pairs, to beat Alan Dunn and Geoff Deeble 14-13. The triples held their end up as well – with scores level at 11 all on the penultimate end, Val Deeble, Richard Crocker, and Mike Guerin scored a three, to win14-11.
With two wins from two outings, the Yellow side leads the competition 19 points, over the Blues 11, the Reds 9, and Greens last on 1 point.
