VALE – KENNETH LINDSAY HARRIS

I was very sad to learn of the recent passing of Ken Harris of the Uraidla Bowling Club.

I did not know Ken well – but you did not need to know Ken well to enjoy his company. He was a popular and gregarious man – who despite ongoing battles with his health, was always cheerful and ready for a laugh.

I understand that he only took up bowls a few years back – wandering into the Gumeracha grounds one day to watch a match, and immediately forming a friendship with Uraidla colleagues Adrian Pobke and Ken Cobbledick – who claimed him as one of their own.

He was a strong contributor to the club – and a member of the victorious 2016 Wednesday premiership side.

Unfortunately declining health sidelined Ken for much of the past 12 months.

Ken’s funeral was held at the Fulham Funeral Chapel on 2nd September 2021 – where family and friends recalled  his love of sport, and spoke fondly of the enjoyment he derived from playing soccer with his sons.

I could have cut a picture of Ken from the premiership photo – but I think this pic of Ken laughing, poking his tongue out at the world,  and enjoying life is more appropriate.

Ken will be very much missed.
