HBA PATRONS DAY AND PITCHER SHIELD

The annual HBA Ladies Patron’s Day was held at the Mt. Barker Bowling Club on Thursday 6th October 2022.

Held in honour of HBA patrons Merv and Kath Miles of Gumeracha – the event saw teams from Lobethal, Mt. Barker, Woodside, Uraidla, Meadows, Gumeracha and Lenswood compete for the shield, and the right to host the event next season.

The Cosmopolitan format again proved popular – with the ladies playing two matches of fours, and split pairs – with total shots tallied to determine the winners.

The Uraidla ladies, skippered by Sue Carter, only managed to win two of their four matches, but their consistent performance throughout the day saw them accrue 31 shots and take out third place.

Dot Keough skippered the Woodside Green team to three early wins, and their total of 34 shots earned them second place.

The Lobethal Green team skippered by Christine Jarman, saw Bev Gericke, Lindy Harten, and Lyn Harten take out the overall win with 46 shots.

Many thanks to everyone at the Mt. Barker Bowling Club who contributed to the success of the day – especially Raelene Corner, Christine Nicholls, Rhonda Cowan, Joy Crest, and Anthony “Trap” Daw.

The Association selectors also took the opportunity to choose teams for the forthcoming Pitcher Shield.  The match will be held at Mannum Bowling Club on Friday 14th October 2022 – with representative teams from HBA competing in a fours format against sides from Lower Murray and Southern Mallee Associations.

Teams are as follows:

TEAM 1 TEAM 2 TEAM 3 TEAM 4
LEAD Leonie Silman Val Deeble Bev Gericke Sarah Moreton
SECOND Susan Carter Joanne Schapel Cheryl Thompson Leanne Attard
THIRD Raelene Corner Sandra Hole Lois Klaebsch Dot Keough
SKIPPER Annette Forbes Cheryle Joseph Sue Maddern Christine Jarman

Side manager is Shelly Howe, and reserves are Liz Love and Kathy Probert.

All players should be at the Mannum Club no later than 9.15am so that the remaining Association shirts and bowls stickers can be distributed – with play to commence at 10.00am sharp.

All players and officials will be provided with a sit-down lunch – with the cost to HBA attendees to be met by the Association.
