LENSWOOD BOWLING CLUB

A number of clubs within the Association have expressed concern about the the ongoing viability of some of the smaller clubs in the 2022-2023 season.

This post is to reassure all clubs that the HBA will not be losing the Lenswood Bowling Club from the competition.

Following determinations made at both a Special General Meeting and the Annual General Meeting, the Lenswood Bowling Club have resolved that in the 2022-2023 pennant season they will be fielding stand alone sides on both Wednesdays and Saturdays.

This will present a marvelous opportunity for both locals interested in taking up bowls, as well as current bowlers looking to seize opportunities to play in a higher grade or position.  Whilst specific team nominations will not be confirmed until August, it is likely that there will be a Division II side on Wednesdays, and at least a Division II side  on Saturdays.

Whilst the past season was disrupted by delays in completion of the resurfacing – the woven carpet green is now down, stretched, and running at a very “user friendly” speed of about 14 seconds.  Ongoing treatment of the green over the winter months is also likely to bring the speed up a little.  This, along with ongoing improvements being made to the surrounds and clubhouse, make the Lenswood Bowling Club a wonderful venue.

The Lenswood Club also continues to run a highly successful social club, with regular events and weekly prize draws.

Anyone interested in  joining the club, either as a player, or social member, should contact either club Secretary Liz Needle 0459 127 249 OR assistant selector Dan Jordan 0478 508 117.
