LOBETHAL #1 TAKE OUT THE ROSEBOWL

The Thursday Ladies pennant Grand Final was completed in glorious conditions at Gumeracha last Thursday.

Lobethal #1 finished the season as minor premiers, and had won their place directly through to the grand final after defeating Uraidla the previous week. Meadows did it the hard way, after beating Lobethal #2 in the semi final, and Uraidla by one shot in the preliminary final.

Lobethal’s Chris Jarman got out of the blocks early against Lois Klaebsch – but Meadows picked up numbers on the third and fourth ends, which springboarded them to an early lead. Meanwhile, Sandy Weinert’s rink were playing their best bowls of the season, to hold a commanding lead at the morning tea break.

Overall scores across the green were tied – as both sides took their break.

Upon the resumption of play, Jarman fought her way back, ultimately winning 23-19 – while Weinert continued her dominance to see out the match as 24-12 victors.

This is Lobethal’s second successive Thursday premiership, following on from a two decade drought.

Many thanks to the host club Gumeracha, and all of the spectators who came out to support the players.
