PATRON’S DAY AND PITCHER SHIELD

Despite the best efforts of the Hills Bowling Association to get everyone back on the green, following a winter marred by Covid restrictions – the fickle weather of the Adelaide Hills has prevailed.

Apart from one match played under the Mt. Barker dome – all matches on the opening Wednesday were washed out – accordingly the results do not count, and all matches have been recorded as a 0-0 draw.

The Ladies Patron’s Day was scheduled the following day – with Woodside Bowling Club all set up to host 10 teams of ladies.  Despite the enormous preparation – the heavens opened up early, making the green unplayable, and the event was cancelled before a single bowl was rolled.  Nonetheless, all due credit to the ladies who attended – and despite the awful conditions outside, remained at the clubrooms throughout the morning to enjoy team mates company and renew acquaintances with friends from the other clubs.

The HBA Executive Committee will determine at a later stage whether the day can be rescheduled.

HBA Selectors were however able to liaise on the morning, and complete selection for the forthcoming Pitcher Shield.

The event will be held at Mannum Bowling Club next Friday – 16th October 2020.

Congratulations to the following players who have been selected:

  • Skip – Sheryl Joseph (Meadows)
