PRESIDENT’S REPORT 2022-2023

This is my final report as the HBA President.  I have decided to step down after three seasons to concentrate on my involvement at club level.  I leave with mixed emotions – a sense of satisfaction and gratitude for the cooperation by clubs and their administrators and bowlers, all working together to ensure the smooth operation of the Association in general.

In particular, I am especially grateful for the outstanding job done by the Association Secretary Terry Stephen, who continues to amaze me with his work ethic and unflagging desire to improve and expand the Association on and off the green.  To all of the other HBA Executive Committee members, thank you and well done.

Congratulations to the new committee members, especially the new President Dora Fuda, who will undoubtedly prove to be a huge asset to the Association.

As for the future and our priorities, I believer clubs, who are the decision makers regarding the future direction of the Association, must continue to be innovative and willing to try new ideas.  All clubs must strive to attract new member to halt any decline in numbers.

I am confident that the affairs of the Association are in competent hands and look forward to working with the Association in my new role as a club representative.

In closing, I want to express a particular note of gratitude to retiring committee member Graham Weyland, who has given decades of service to the HBA in various roles, including a number of terms as President.  He has set a fine example of service and integrity, and I wish him well in his retirement from the committee.

I look forward to catching up with everyone on the greens, and wish all clubs and bowlers well in the future.
