SATURDAY DIVISION I GRAND FINAL

Hahndorf overcame their minor round loss against Woodside three weeks ago, to storm home on grand final day, and take their second successive Division I Premiership.

Woodside had a strong win over arch rival Lobethal in the semi finals, and comfortably accounted for perennial finalists Mt. Barker in the prelim – giving them some confidence going into the final clash of the season.

The line up of players for both sides was star studded – with previous HBA singes winners Peter Mangelsdorf, Andy Alberd, Sue Hutchinson, Steve Baker, Rob Hutchinson, and Brett Norman – along with runners up Phil Nagel, and Scott Pittaway.

Woodside skippers Mangelsdorf and Norman proved their mettle early by downing Jamie Burt and Glen McGough respectively 23-21 and 21-15 and closely contested encounters.  However it was the rink skippered by Hahndorf’s Geoff Deeble that did the damage.  Deeble has had a stellar two seasons since joining Hahndorf, and assisted by Richard Crocker, Phil Nagel, and Sue Hutchinson – downed Andy Alberd’s team 31-16.

The 67-60 win sees the Premiership shield back on the wall at the Hahndorf club rooms.
