TALUNGA SHIELD 2023

The annual Talunga Shield match between HBA and Lower Murray Association was played in extremely hot conditions at the Oakbank Bowling Club.

Seven teams from each Association competed over two matches, with the length of each match being reduced to eight ends to take into account the heat.

During the first round the HBA won all seven matches to lead 75 shots to 31 – however Lower Murray fought back with a vengeance in the second round, losing 54 shots to 53.

The total score of 129 to 84 saw HBA regain the shield.

A big thank you to the host club for looking after the players in extreme heat, providing an umpire, and high tea – and many thanks to the Association selectors for arranging sides, and Val Deeble for running the event.
