THIRD NIGHT OF PRESIDENT’S CUP

The third night of the HBA President’s Cup was held at the Gumeracha Bowling Club last Friday night, with players enjoying perfect bowling conditions.

Val Deeble’s “Yellow Jacks” took the major points by winning both the pairs and the triples against Sheryle Joseph’s “Goldfinger” side.  Jay Maslen and Geoff Deeble have kept their unbeaten run alive with a 15-9 win in the pairs, while Matthew Bing took the honours 13-11 in a tight tussle with Greg Gage.

Butch Mik helped his “Red Hot Chilli Peppers” to a 16-12 win in the triples over Jamie Burt, however Blues’ captain Brian Scown wreaked revenge by downing Mark Schutt in the pairs 16-6 to give his side the overall win.

In the final match of the night, the winless Green team took on  Cindy Falco and the “Annoying Orange” side.  Green’s captain Tony Mik skippered his side to a comfortable 19-10 win over Neville Mansell in the triples, while team mate David Freebairn accounted for Terry Holding in the pairs.

This concludes the minor round draw – with Val Deeble taking out the minor premiership, and facing Butch Mik’s side in next week’s grand final.  Brian Scown and Sheryle Joseph will fight out third place, while Green and Orange will face up again, both hoping to avoid the wooden spoon.

Next week’s event will be held on Friday night at the Uraidla Bowling Club.  The club will open at 5.30pm, with hot food and bar facilities available throughout the evening, and play commencing at 6.30pm.
